MUNEHARU KITADE

At the peak of the first Internet bubble, Kitade dived head-first while still enrolled in University, which peaked his interest at the possibilities of the Internet revolution. He then went on to head up research and marketing teams at a major US Consulting firm(D.C), and a major record label (NYC). After returning to Japan, he became involved in several ventures, eventually setting up a successful business English school, and in particular was involved in creating their IT Systems department and Web Marketing section, which was instrumental in their rise to the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Looking to further his experience in the tech-sector, Kitade joined Livedoor to manage the Media Business section, as well as becoming a director at GMO Marketing, before lending his services to major corporations in consulting and solution creation under Dentsu Isobar.
He created AI TOKYO LAB in 2016, and as of July 2017, continues to work hard to bring the very best in next generation machine learning into our everyday lives.

HIDENORI KAWAMURA

Senior Adviser(Founder)

Born in Kushiro in 1973, Kawamura completed his Hokkaido University graduate school doctoral course in March 2000. After serving as an assistant and associate professor for Hokkaido University in 2016, he continues to serve as a tenured professor. From 2007 - 2008, Kawamura was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Overseas Special Researcher and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Michigan. Having published many papers on artificial intelligence, he took on a position in the industry, academia and government organization "Sapporo AI Lab" as of June 2017, to expand the industrial application of AI in Hokkaido, and is now a key figure in this venture.

HIROKI TOMIYAMA

Chairman

Born in Sapporo in 1976, Tomiyama joined a daily goods wholesale trading company after graduating from university in Sapporo.
He then worked in Fukushima and Tokyo, joining Sapporo Drugstore Co., Ltd. in 2007.
In May 2015 he was promoted to CEO, and as of spring of 2016 started to place his on domestic expansion, promoting the new "Satsudora" brand. As of August 2016, Tomiyama established Satsudora Holdings Co., Ltd. and assumed the position of Representative Director and President. With the idea of creating a seamless mix of "retail x marketing", and the potential to bring about a change in the current environment, Tomiyama is spearheading the expansion of a next generation eco-system surrounded around the operation of the shared point card "EZOCA"

RYOTA ONO

AI Architect

Ono is a graduate of the Hokkaido University doctoral course (information science), specializing mainly in research on optimization problems, multi agent simulations, information recommendation, and tourist information.
With an eye for new things, Ono joined Professor Kawamura and co-founded Chowagiken Co., Ltd. while still a student, where he focused mainly on research and development projects of new technologies, as well as the event information distribution service "Bemall". Ono has been deeply involved in natural language processing well before the arrival of the current trend in AI, and continues to look for better ways to meld his academic interest in the area with practical business applications.
After obtaining a doctor's degree, he continued to work for Chowagken while also serving as a part-time lecturer at Hokkaido University of Science and Hokkaido Information University, serving up lectures on information processing and tourism.

MAKOTO TAKAHASHI

Project Manager

Takahashi started in large-scale system development under the major player SIer.
Following this Takahashi became involved in the launch of a new site as a director at Livedoor.
Finding himself headhunted, he then switched gears and was placed in charge of solution services, overseeing everything from development to roll-out at IOIX Corporation.
In addition, he contributed greatly to their bottom-line by engaging in the successful launch of multiple new businesses.
He then provided consulting using the company's Web marketing tool for a wide range of industries (550 companies in total).

ROBERT JOHN

Global Manager

Originally from San Diego, California, Robert headed to Tokyo to work for a major software entertainment label after graduating with a CS degree from RPI in New York. There he headed the network team of a major MMORPG label, working to align the processes between the Japan and overseas team. With a desire to see things up close, he then moved a venture attached to a major consulting firm where he headed a localization team for several years. Wanting to see things from a different perspective, Robert then joined an Intellectual Property Firm, where he eventually passed the bar as a US Patent Agent. After a chance meeting in on 3/11, he became intertwined with a company which would eventually evolve into Dentsu isobar, where he would consult and help on a number of global projects with major players.
Having joined AI TOKYO LAB in 2016, he continues to work to bring the innovations of AI TOKYO LAB closer to the world.
